Earth & Glacial Spikes — Procedural Elemental Attack VFX

This visual effect showcases two elemental spike attacks—Earth Spikes and Glacial Spikes—erupting from the ground to strike nearby enemies. Built in Unity using VFX Graph and Shader Graph, each spike is procedurally generated with randomized size, orientation, and position.
A custom dissolve shader controls the spikes’ emergence, with visual variation driven by material properties:
1 Earth Spikes use a dark, matte shader for a rocky, grounded aesthetic.
2 Glacial Spikes feature a crystalized look with refraction, Fresnel edge glow, and shimmering highlights.
Each spike type shares the same procedural spawning system, allowing for efficient reuse across different elemental attacks while maintaining distinct visual identities. All assets were modeled in 3ds Max, and the entire system is optimized for runtime performance.
